Charoite is a silicate mineral, built from oxygen and silicon atoms, a rare stone prized by collectors for its swirling violet to purple color threaded with black, white and brown. Its shades run from lavender and lilac to violet and deep purple: augite brings the black, microcline feldspar the transparency and tinaksite the orange hues, and it often forms alongside quartz and manganese inclusions.
