WHY IT'S AWESOME? Technically speaking, anytime you are eating salt, you are eating crystals. Folklore legend says that salt stones were discovered when Alexander the Great crossed the Jhelum and Mianwalki region on one of his campaigns and there the army's horses were found licking the stones, when the curious men licked the stones, they discovered they were salty and thus the discovery. Salt has been used to preserve Egyptian mummies and in 1933, it is reported that the Dalai Lama was buried sitting up in a bed of salt.
WHAT IS SALT STONE? Salt stones are the remnants of seabeds that crystallized 600 million years ago. The Himalayan mountains were originally formed due to massive pressure of the Indo-Australian tectonic plates. Once the surrounding ocean dried up, huge deposits of salt were left behind and now is mined for salt stones that come in many sizes and shapes, and has thousands of uses around the world. The pink rocks are turned into table salt, lamps, statues and are sold at a premium in Western countries.
WHERE IT'S FOUND? Salt Stones come from the massive salt beds left inside the moutains of Pakistan. It's mined deep inside the mountains of Pakistan at the Khewra Salt Mine.
